Are these common? Does anyone else have one? Well you should. What a magical and fun piece of kitchen equipment. Grinding up ingredients with a stone mortar and pestle makes me feel like I'm in Hogwarts or a cave hundreds of years ago, a way better feeling than you get from a a blender or a spork.

I got this one a few weeks ago to mash up ingredients for Fancy Cocktail Friday and it works fantastic.

Mortar and Pestles are so versatile, not only can you crush up mint and sugar for a mojito but also garlic and spices for any recipe. It also weights a lot and is useful for putting onto of things. I squeezed the water out of tofu with it. I haven't tested it out yet but I'm sure it would make a good book end too.
